The Wapello FFA has some extended hours to close out the inventory in the greenhouse for this year! Come take advantage of lower prices!

As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, we want to recognize all of our amazing staff for the work they do day in and day out to make the Wapello Community School District run like a well-oiled machine. It takes everyone, from our custodians, bus drivers, support staff, teaching staff, and administrators, to make the year go smoothly. The Board of Directors would like to express our thanks to each and every one of our employees for your dedication to our district! We hope you have had an amazing year!
Brandon Marquardt, Kenny Marlette, Doug Housman, Dave Moore, and Matt Smith

Kolton Hauser, son of Mary Carey and Adam Hauser, says that he has spent the most amount of time learning to become an adult throughout his time at WHS. His advice to the underclassmen, “Don't care what others think of you, and stay motivated to finish your class work.”
Kolton is an active student at WHS, as a four year member of the basketball team and three year member of the soccer team. He also is a member of the National Honor Society and TIES team. It is with the TIES program that Kolton made the best high school memories and says that Mr. Peck became the influential teacher in his life because he founded and coached the team.
Kolton’s yearbook quote comes from fellow classmate, Cristian Tolentino, "Do your work last minute, it only takes a minute."
After high school, Kolton plans to attend Iowa State University to pursue a degree in Agricultural Systems Technology.
Congratulations, Kolton!

We have a large surplus of trophies that are no longer being displayed. You can view the list using the link below. If you are interested in any of them, reach out to brandon.brown@wapellocsd.org.

We want to recognize our school nurse, Ann Moore, for everything she does for our students and staff during National Nurse Appreciation Week. Ann goes above and beyond to ensure our students' needs are met and that our students and staff stay healthy. Thank you, Ann, for everything you do for the Wapello Community School District.

Madison Cheyann Lundvall is the daughter of Lee and Traci Lundvall. While in high school, Madi participated in wrestling, cross country, basketball and track. She was also a member of FCCLA and FFA at Wapello High School.
Madi names Ms. Eakins as her most influential staff member, spending a lot of time hanging out in her office. Madi’s future plans include attending Iowa Central Community College to major in animal science. She will also be on their rodeo team.
“Don’t procrastinate,” is what Madi would offer up to underclassmen. She quotes John Dutton saying, "It's one constant in life. You build something worth having, someone's gonna try it."
Congratulations, Madi!

It's Throwback Thursday! Back to the 1996 WHS Tomahawk this week for some more memories!

“Get involved as much as you can.” Words of encouragement from graduating senior, Liby Maria-Rose Shafer. Liby sure did take her own advice while in high school, participating in pom squad, football cheer, volleyball, golf, soccer, and student council for four years. She was also in band for two years. She claims most of her time in high school was spent running around to every activity!
Liby’s most influential teachers in high school would be my math teachers. “When it came to math class I hated going and I felt very confused. Eventually with a lot of patience from my math teachers my mindset changed and I learned not to hate math.”
Liby’s future plans include attending Indian Hills Community College to further her education and athletic career. Liby is the daughter of Jay Shafer and Marcia Langan.
Liby leaves the halls of WHS with this quote, “I made memories!”
Best of luck, Liby!

“To be a winner, you don’t have to cross the finish line first.” Words of wisdom from graduating senior, Kendall Burger. Kendall is the daughter of Ben Burger and Kara Halling.
While in high school, Kendall participated in FFA, 4-H, and bowling. Her experience in FFA and 4-H, as well as her time spent with Mrs. Chapman in her classroom and the greenhouse, will help prepare Kendall in attending Ellsworth Community College to pursue horse training.
Kendall names Ms. Bostian as the staff member who had the most influence on her because she gave her chances and always tried to include her in things with other kids. She was there for Kendall when she really needed someone.
Kendall advises underclassmen to, “Take time to yourself. Don't over stress yourself, take time to be a kid.”
We wish you well, Kendall!

Boys and girls track will compete at the State Qualifying meet in WACO tonight.
