November 14th is World Diabetes Day and in honor of that, Elementary students and staff wore blue in support of one of our own students who fights this disease everyday! Jenna Jones is a courageous young lady in the 4th grade and today we stand with her! Her Fight is Our Fight. #wearewapello #tribepride #noonefightsalone

Tonight’s JH Girls Basketball game will be 6 quarters in length (only one game). They will play 3 quarters of 7th grade, followed by 3 quarters of 8th grade. This is due to low numbers on the opposing team. Please plan accordingly.

Thank you to all students, staff and community members who donated blood yesterday. We collected 55 units of blood, surpassing our goal of 40 units. More impressive yet is the fact that we had 19 first time donors. Next high school drive will be held this spring but remember most individuals are eligible to donate every 56 days.

It's not too late, get your team of UP TO 8 PEOPLE, $10 per person (No Minimum Number) for the Elementary PTO Trivia Night at the Briggs Center. November 16th, doors open at 6:30. All Proceeds go to the PTO and back to the Teachers and Students of Wapello Elementary.

The Fall Athletic banquet will be Wednesday, November 13th at 6:30 in the HS auditorium. We will honor athletes in Cross-country, Football, Football Cheerleaders, and Volleyball. There will be light refreshments after. #wearewapello #wapellotribepride

WHS junior Matthew Peterson will be joining 600 other high school students as they participate in the Panther Band Day at UNI November 9. Band Day is a long standing tradition at UNI that gives high school students an opportunity to join the 200+ member Panther Marching Band playing on the field at half time of a home football game. #wearewapello #fiep #stillnotdoneyet

The concerns people have voiced recently are certainly understandable and as a parent I share them, but I feel it’s important for me also as an educator in the school district to reassure you Wapello Community Schools offer a safe, positive and productive learning environment. Students are more likely to learn in a safe learning environment – one in which they feel valued and protected, which is why all of us need to remain positive and work together to promote the childrens’ academic, social and emotional progress inside and outside the classroom.
