SENIORS: today is the last day to order extra flowers for graduation. The school provides one, but if you would like more you will need to pay ($7.00/flower). If you do need/want more, please check your school email and fill out the Google form from Ms. Wade (sent Tuesday).

The Elementary food pantry will be open Thursday, June 18th from 2:00 - 4:00. Please drive around the back of the building.

Let’s Celebrate the Class of 2020 Graduation will commence on Sunday, June 28th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. on the football field. Below we have listed the expectations and accommodations that we will follow to help provide for a memorable night for our graduating seniors. Seating – We ask that people who plan on attending graduation bring a lawn chair as seating will be limited. The football field will be marked with lines that will provide enough seating for 6 invites of each graduate. If more than 6 members join in the celebration (ex.- community members, students or other visitors) additional seating will be designated in the back. We will also allow viewing from the bleachers and along the fence area. We ask that you please respect social distancing guidelines and do not congregate in groups above social distancing guidelines. Gates will open at 6:30 for admittance into the ceremony. Hygiene – Bathrooms connected to the concession stand will be available before, during and after the celebration. Masks – No face covering of any kind will be mandatory to attend or participate in the graduation celebration. We ask that everyone respect each other and their personal decision in regards to wearing a mask. Masks will not be made available so please bring your own if you’re in need of one. Diplomas – School Board President Doug Housman will hand each graduate their diploma like usual. The graduate will continue to be congratulated by Superintendent Mike Peterson and their tassel moved. They will shake hands with each graduate, but respect each individual that may not want to participate in a hand shake and provide an alternative fist bump, elbow tap, or just a congratulation comment. We will have hand sanitizer available for students prior and post this ceremonial gesture. Congratulations Class of 2020! Superintendent Mike Peterson & Principal Steve Bohlen

Softball and Baseball kick off their 2020 campaign tonight. Softball will be at home vs. Mediapolis at 5:30, while the Baseball team will travel to Mediapolis for a 5:30 start. The Wapello Arrows will open up the 2020 softball season at home tonight when they welcome the Mediapolis Bullettes to the Carl "Mac" McGill Athletic Complex. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the JV contest with the varsity to follow. Good Luck Arrows and Coaches! #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

The Indians will open up the 2020 Baseball Season tonight at Mediapolis High School when they square off with the Mediapolis Bulldogs. The first pitch is set for 5:30 pm in the JV contest followed by the Varsity game. Best of luck to the Indians and coaches tonight! #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

For Baseball Tomorrow: BP - 3:00 Bus - 4:20 Uniform - JV yellow jersey, Varsity blue jersey, white pants, white hat. Don't forget your belt, glove and cleats. You may ride to and from the game with a PARENT (no one else) if you so choose, they must sign you out before you leave either to or from the game. Reminder that you can not share water, get water from a coach, or from a parent during the game (before, during or after). So bring plenty of liquids and snacks for after the game if you need them. We would encourage you to bring a small cooler for yourself. There is to be no eating or drinking on the bus, absolutely no sunflower seeds of any kind on the bus or at the game. Fans attending the game, you will want to bring a lawn chair, as seating is limited this year at every venue. Please follow social distancing rules and only set with your immediate family (same household). There are lots of things we are not used to and plenty of learning we will all do together. But baseball is back!!! There are probably 100 things we are forgetting at this time, feel free to text 563-506-2341 with any questions. Or ask them here in the comments. Thank you.

Congratulations to WHS Alumni Kabe Boysen for being elected as the SE Vice-President of the Iowa FFA Association! Kabe will represent the Wapello FFA and the Wapello Community School District over the next year as a leader of the Iowa FFA. Congratulations Kabe! #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

Any student (Wapello or other) who is planning to attend WHS Prom on June 20th needs to have a permission slip completed. You can pick one up from the HS office, or Central office. Reminder to parents of incoming Pre-Kindergarten and NEW to the district Kindergarteners. We are planning our roundup for our new early childhood students on June 17th. If you have a child that will be 4 years old on or before September 15, and you want to learn more about our 4 year old program and schedule a visit for you and your child, please call to set up a time to come in on Wednesday, June 17. If your child is Kindergarten age, turning 5 before September 15th , and you are NEW to the district, give a call and we can set a time for you and your child to come visit also. Volleyball Information: Since there wasn't an end of the year meeting to collect a count of who will be interested in the 2020-2021 volleyball season, I would like 9-12 grade girls that are interested please contact me through my email kenna.greiner@wapellocsd.org or phone 319-523-3641.
