Our second Senior Shoutout for today goes out to Max Hardin. Max is the son of Josh and Beth Hardin. For two years, Max played on the Indian football team. After graduation, Max plans to attend a trade school for electrical engineering. When we asked Max which staff member has had the greatest impact on him during his high shool tenure he said Mr. Bohlen (the boss man himself). This is because "He was always there for me and was always there to tell me when I was being stupid." Max's advice to underclassmen is "Don’t get on top of the school, it’s not worth it." (Seems like good advice!). Congratulations and best wishes to Max on his graduation from WHS with the class of 2020 #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride #classof2020

Today's first Senior Shoutout goes to Alexandra Caudle. Alex is the daughter of Kristy and Damon Moore. While in high school Alex has been active in Golf for one year, Choir, Speech and Drama, NHS and Student Council for two years, and Band for three years. Alex's future include attending Southeastern Community College, then transfer to a four year college. We asked Alex to name a teacher/staff member who has had an impact on her life. She named Ms. Jane Bostian for this because, "[she] has been one of my biggest supporters through out my high school career. She had been with me through thick and thin. There was never a day where I couldn't go into her classroom and expresses myself and my feelings. Ms. Bostian never made me feel like I was less, and saw talent in me that I didn't even know where there. She has always supported me in everything I have done, and was there as a shoulder to cry on when things didn't work out. Ms. Jane Bostian was not only one of my teachers but also a role model for me. She has given me confidence in myself and strength to continue being myself. I could never thank her enough for all she has done for me." When asked her advice for underclassmen, Alex said "Treat people with kindness, including yourself." Congratulations and best wishes to Alex on her graduation from WHS with the class of 2020. #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride #classof2020

It's time again for our daily Senior Shoutout. The first one today is to Preston Dyer. Preston is the son of Brandi Dyer. He has spent his high school career focused on his grades, and after graduation, Preston's plan is to attend college yet to be determined. We asked Preston to name a teacher/staff member who has made an impact on his life while in school. He named Mr. Brandon Brown because, "[he] always makes his class interesting and engaging, (granted I like history anyway). He does a great job at making history relevant to modern day, and teaching in a way that makes you want to learn. I've never had a class with him that I disliked or loathed going to." When we asked Preston his advice to the underclassmen of WHS, he said "Don't take life too seriously. Just have fun and find happiness wherever you can. :)" Congratulations and best wishes to Preston as he graduates from WHS with the class of 2020! #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride #Class of 2020

March 11, 2020 Update: The weather yesterday felt like a day in late fall, rather than spring. I'm really hoping it was a fluke. Governor Reynolds hinted that she will reveal some details tomorrow about continued reopening efforts. I have no idea what those details might be. Time will tell. I will be out of commission for a couple days, so there won't be any daily updates. Fear not. They shall return. In the meantime... Wash your hands. Cover your cough. Wash your hands. Stay home if you belong to a high risk group. Wash your hands. If you are out and about, practice social distance. For you State Fair fans, social distancing means keep one butter cow distance from other people. Wash your hands. #wearewapello #wapellotribepride
