Here is some important information regarding the Class of 21 Graduation Ceremonies scheduled for Sunday (5-23-21) afternoon. At this time, we are planning for an outdoor ceremony to be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Carl "Mac" McGill Athletic Complex on the Football Field. If there is inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the WHS Gymnasium. Any change in these plans will be posted on our website, social media feeds, and mobile app through a push notification. Each Senior will receive 6 tickets which will allow 6 family members to sit in the designated area on the field. Each Senior will be given a number that was randomly selected informing family members what “box” they will be sitting in. Any family members over 6 can sit in the back of the graduates or up in the stands. The gates to the football field will open at 1:00 on Sunday. If we hold graduation inside, each student will have 6 tickets and remaining seating will be by first come first serve. Doors to the high school would open at 1:00. #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

2021 Senior Spotlight: Monday’s final Senior Spotlight goes to Hector Daniel Zepeda. He is the son of Miguel and Maira Zepeda. While in high school, Hector has been active in Student Council for one year, NHS for two, FCA for three years, and Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Track for four years. Hector plans to attend Southeastern Community College to play soccer but is undecided on a major, after graduation. The person who has influenced him the most while in school is Mrs. Aracely (Schlesing). This is because “...she's been with me since I first came to Wapello in 2nd grade from Mexico. Throughout those years she has mentored me in learning English, always believing and never giving up on me. She was always hard on me, teaching me discipline and responsibility when it comes to academics, always telling me to do my assignments and turn them in on time and I appreciate her for that.” Hector’s advice for underclassmen is “Don't take anything in this life for granted for it is temporary. Enjoy every moment. Also, treat your teachers like you treat your parents. Be kind and spread love.” Best of luck and congratulations to Hector as he prepares to graduate from WHS.

2021 Senior Spotlight: As we begin the final week of school for Seniors, we start today’s Senior Spotlight with Lydia Jeneé Fisher. She is the daughter of Eddie and Kim Fisher. Lydia has been very active while in high school, participating in Quiz Bowl for one year, NHS and Volleyball for two, Track, Speech and FCCLA for three years, and four years on the Poms Squad, Football Cheerleading squad, FFA and Student Council. After graduation, Lydia plans to attend a 4-year University to receive a B.S in Biology and Business Entrepreneurship on a Pre-Med Track. The staff members who have influenced her the most while in school are Mrs. Ungerer and Ms. Philp. This is because “Mrs. Ungerer brings a smile to my face everytime I see her, and she makes learning both educational and exciting. Her dedication to her students at Wapello and her job is a dedication I hope to have in my career someday! Ms. Philp has helped me reach my goals and highest potential in high school. Without her assistance when registering for classes and college courses, I would not be the student I am today.” Lydia’s advice for underclassmen is “take advantage of the opportunity to receive college credit. They will help prepare you for college and save you money!” Congratulations to Lydia on her impending graduation.
