Wapello Community School

2019-2020 Registration Information

Wapello Community School students and parents are reminded by Superintendent Mike Peterson that summer vacation is going fast and that school will be starting soon.  Back to school night for Wapello Community School is set for Wednesday, August 21st, 2019 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for the Elementary building and 6-7:30 p.m. for the Jr. & Sr. High School building, 6th-grade orientation will start at 6:00 p.m.  Wapello Community School District’s first day of school is on Friday, August 23rd, 2019 at regular start time 8:10 a.m. for Jr. & Sr. High School and 8:15 a.m. for Elementary, if students arrive after this time, they will be considered tardy.  Morning breakfast at 7:50 a.m. for both buildings and hot lunch at the regularly scheduled time will be in operation on the first day.  In-Person registration for the 2019-2020 school year is scheduled for Thursday, July 25th at the High School New Practice Gym from 10:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m.

If you are not able to attend the In-Person Registration or would like to complete the registration process from home, our new and improved online registration will be available very soon!  As soon as this module is ready and open for submissions, we will post a notification on our website as well as our Facebook page.

Look for instructions on our website for the Online Registration once that becomes available.  Two components need to be completed to complete the online registration process successfully.  First, click on the PaySchools Central Link, to pay for student fees, second, click on the Powerschool Logo to update and register student information by clicking on the E-Registration logo on the bottom left side of your screen.

This process can also be completed at the in-person registration day on July 25; there will be computers set up for your convenience and a check out for payments on registration day if you can’t register online from home.

Important Dates: No school on Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd, 2019, Thanksgiving break will be November 27th through November 29th.Christmas break will begin December 23rd through January 3rd.Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 6th, 2020.The last day of school, unless we have snow days, is May 28th, 2020.Senior graduation is May 24th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the high school gym.

Registration fees for grades K-5 are as follows:

Book Rent$40.00

Breakfast$1.85- per meal

All reduced-price breakfasts are $0.30 per meal.

Lunch$2.75- per meal

All reduced-price lunches are $0.40 per meal.

All extra milk is $0.35 per carton.

Breakfast$2.20 per meal

All reduced-price breakfasts are $0.30 per meal.

Lunch$3.00 per meal

All reduced-price lunches are $0.40 per meal.

All extra milk is $0.35 per carton.

Driver's Ed.$375.00

Photography$15.00 (only for juniors or seniors)

Music Fees$15.00 band uniform (mandatory grades 9-12)

$20.00 choir uniform (mandatory grades 9-12)

$20.00 for anyone using percussion instruments (mandatory for grades 6-12)

$20.00 for using school instruments (mandatory for grades 6-12)

Towels and locks are not provided by the school.  Students must bring their own.

Activity Passes:  Student Price-$40.00 Adult Price-$80.00

STUDENT FEE WAIVER AND REDUCTION PROCEDURES

Students whose families meet the income guidelines for free and reduced-price lunch, the

Family Investment Program (FIP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), transportation

assistance under open enrollment, or who are in foster care are eligible to have their

registration fees waived or partially waived.  Parents or students who believe they may qualify for this waiver may fill out an application form.  This application does not carry

over from year to year and must be completed annually. The English and Spanish version of the free and reduced application is on the Wapello School web site.
