Wapello Community School

Registration Information

Wapello Community School students and parents are reminded by Superintendent Mr. Peterson that summer vacation is going fast and that school will be starting soon. Back to school night for Wapello Community School is set for Wednesday, August 21st, 2018 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for the Elementary building and 6-7:30 p.m. for the Jr. & Sr. High School building. Wapello Community School District’s first day of school is on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018 at regular start time 8:10 a.m. for Jr. & Sr. High School and 8:15 a.m. for Elementary, if a student arrives after this time they will be counted as tardy. Morning breakfast at 7:50 a.m. for both buildings and hot lunch at regular time will be in operation on the first day. Registration for the 2018/2019 school year is scheduled for Thursday, August 2nd at the High School New Gym/Practice Gym from 9:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. You can register your student on the school web site starting Monday 23rd, 2018 at: www.wapello.k12.ia.us, click on PaySchools Central Logo or come to registration at indicated time above, there will be computers set up for your convenience and a check out for payments.

Important Dates: No school on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd, 2018, Thanksgiving break will be November 21st through November 23rd. Christmas break will begin December 24th through January 1st. Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019. The last day of school, unless we have snow days, is May 24th, 2019. Senior graduation is May 19th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the high school gym.

Registration fees for grades K-5 are as follows:

Book Rent $40.00

Breakfast $1.65- per meal

All reduced-price breakfasts are $0.30 cents per meal.

Lunch $2.55- per meal

All reduced-price lunches are $0.40 cents per meal.

All extra milk is $0.35 cents per carton.

Breakfast $2.00 per meal

All reduced-price breakfasts are $0.30 cents per meal.

Lunch $2.80 per meal

All reduced-price lunches are $0.40 cents per meal.

All extra milk is $0.35 cents per carton.

Driver's Ed. $375.00

Photography $15.00 (only for juniors or seniors)

Music Fees $15.00 band uniform (mandatory grades 9-12)

$20.00 choir uniforms (mandatory grades 9-12)

$20.00 for anyone using percussion instruments (mandatory for grades 6-12)

$20.00 for using school instruments (mandatory for grades 6-12)

Towels and locks are not provided by the school. Students must bring their own.

Activity Passes: Students-$40.00 Adults-$80.00

STUDENT FEE WAIVER AND REDUCTION PROCEDURES

Students whose families meet the income guidelines for free and reduced price lunch, the

Family Investment Program (FIP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), transportation

assistance under open enrollment, or who are in foster care are eligible to have their

registration fees waived or partially waived. Parents or students who believe they may

qualify for this waiver may fill out an application form. This application does not carry

over from year to year and must be completed annually. The English and Spanish version of the free andreduced application is on the Wapello School web site.
